    V code!

    So what do you guys think this is worth. Owner said that it runs and drives but needs a carb rebuild. supposedly has rust in only the picture provided. He isn't sure if its matching engine and trans, so I would probably assume is isn't.

    so what is it worth if its matching numbers, and if its not?

    Well...that thing looks pretty rusty.  I mean, after sandblasting, it'll show a lot more eaten up than what you can see.

    It'll take $50k to restore that car somewhat properly.  So....figure...if it's #s matching, I'd say $25k.  Not #s....maybe $22-24k.  Again, for Mopars, #s matching isn't that big a deal if it's got other docs (VIN, original fender tag, rad support, cowl).

    Thing is...it's a cool car, but not my cup of tea.  I'd rather have a u-code four-speed.

    I agree with ragtopdodge, mid-20's, but of course there is always room for negotiating.

    The R/T SE has unique parts to it from a model year in which even the basic Challenger contained many one year only parts. The pictures show a mostly complete vehicle but if you get serious about it ask about the missing rear of fener and hood trim pieces as well as the top of door and outside of the quarter window trim pieces. They come up for sale from time to time if needed.

    The hardest pieces to find are the three piece cardbord - more like perforated peg board - headliner and the SE emblems. They appear to be there in the pictures, just determine they are the correct ones held on by clips rather than a screw as on the third generation Charger SE models. Recently a company has appeared which claims to be reproducing the headliner pieces but there is not much to the site at this time :dunno:

    If you're selling...I'd sell it would be a tough sale at $20K.....

    If you're buying...It's certainly no bargain at $20K.....

    Restoration is a minimum of $50K and the car is worth only $65K - $70K done correctly.

    Ya, SE parts can be a bit expensive.

    Try finding the SE root medallion emblems in good/NOS condition!  They don't repop them anymore.

    The headliners are $$$, but I would put them in a non-SE hardtop b/c I think they're so cool.

    The hood, fender, door, quarter trim they don't repop, but can be found for not too bad a price.

    Probably the most $$$ part is the rear finish panel.  NOS ones are now at least $1500.  I had a decent one used that I wanted Alltrim to restore.  It wasn't good enough for him to restore and would cost $1k anyways.

    Stupid me didn't buy them when they were like $150 from Chrysler back in the early '90s.  My friend said, you should get one, and I said, " Nah!"  :screwy:
