72 Challenger Motor Mounts
« on: March 07, 2013 - 02:33:50 PM »
Hey guys, I have a 72 Challenger 318 car with front drums that I'm putting a 5.9 from a Jeep into.  I believe the stock style mounts will work, but mine are shot so I'd like to upgrade them to a poly mount.  I can't seem to find any for a 72, they all say 73-74.  Also, I posted in this section cause I believe I read that the 74 small block k-member is different from the 72.  I have a 74 360 rally parts car with k-member, sway bar, discs, etc. that my 72 doesn't have.  Do you think I'd be better off swapping to the 74 stuff before I start buying bushings, mounts, and stuff or stay with the 72 and keep searching for the mounts?  Thanks in advance.

The E-body K's didn't change.  They are the same.  B-bodies used a different design in 73-74 but not the E-bodies.

Thanks!  Where's the best place to get poly motor mounts?  Is Prothane the only ones available?

Actually the K's did change on E bodies.  They added some strange tabs to the 74s.  You can see pictures of them in this thread along with some discussion:

Haha.  Of course they had to change something.  At least it doesn't matter.

My 72 318 Challenger has disk brakes.  I wonder why unless mine were changed to disc brakes at some point

Thanks for the tip on the poly locks.  I've already ordered some stock replacements to get the engine in and all the turbo piping fabbed, but may order some from Mancini now that I know they have them.
