Dash Mounting Hardware?
« on: March 09, 2013 - 02:25:23 AM »
Can anyone tell me what the correct bolt/screw size is for mounting the dash?  Specifically, the four that are accessed through the defroster ports.  Thanks.

Yes, I too have purchased from them in past years.  I already have the two pivot bolts for the dash frame to side of the body, so don't really need two more.  The prior owner of the car used different clips and "screws" (he used hex key stainless machine screws w/stainless washers) for the upper dash frame to cowl.  So, I really just need to replace those, but Hoover's complete set is $18.50 + $4.00 shipping.  It seems a little much for 10 pieces of hardware.

Just found this, and it seems more reasonably priced.  http://www.rtspecialties.net/proddetail.asp?prod=1000300  Seems more reasonably priced.

Found this info on the moparts.org site.  Member was not 100% this was correct though.

* Pivot bolts under kick panels = 1/4-20 x 1" with a 1" captive washer
* In the vents = 10-24 x 1" with a 1/2" captive washer

Sounds about right. I would say the bolts under the kick panels are longer then 1".
Searching around you should be able to find just the bolts you need. Try AMK Products, http://www.amkproducts.com/  it's where most of these vendors are getting their hardware...nothing like going direct to the source. :thumbsup:
