Why do you think the original colour is black ?

I find it hard to believe that when someone did the colour change to white that they would have removed the master cylinder reinforcement plate, wiper motor, voltage regulartor, horns etc... :dunno:

Looks to me like the original colour is white ?

That was my first thought actually, which is why I assumed it was originally white as well. The window and door gaskets were not removed when they painted it white, and it's clearly black under there. The car had an after market master cylinder installed when I got it, so the po definitely removed that at one point which would explain the white on the fire wall. I'm sure it will be clearer as I keep digging into the car.

After 40 some odd years, a lot of stuff can happen to a car!!  I doubt that a Gran Coupe would be a V02 two-tone car.  They came standard with a vinyl roof, with the option of not having it.  that being said, anything is possible!

So if it looks like it was black originally, would  you keep it black, or go with the EV2 Orange you were thinking about?  I think black with a tan interior would look great!!  but that's just me.

I like that combo too.

BLACK w/ BURNT ORANGE INTERIOR.

I like this combo as well :clapping:

I am thinking you should pull the doors off hinges and all at the A-pillar ans ee what colour is underneath their, use something sharp and start scrapping away to see through the layers of paint, i figured that would be the less likely spot to have build up depending how lazy the last guy was who painted. :2thumbs: Interested to hear your findings

Here are a couple pictures of the black showing through. All I can say is that if the car wasn't originally white, they did a pretty good job with the color change. I'm still torn on what to do with this car. The only thing I know is that I don't want a white car.

Well, that's the fun part! You can choose what YOU want!  So, there you are circa late 1969, sitting at the dealer with your order sheet in hand.....

Hey Turbo, really can not go off the doors buddy, unless you can confirm they are original to the car. You will have to remove the door and hinges to spy a colour underneath, even a simple loosening of the hinges will let you see under the hinge where it bolts up to the A-pillar buddy. I am thinking seeing how you have no fender tag, you can do it what ever you want, but it woul dbe good to confirm a colour first, and Black would look amazing on your car as a Gran Coupe........... :clapping: White interior, White vinyl roof, White hockey stick or even White AAR stripe with that AAR hood you have would make for one awesom looking car. A real Black and White theme
