318 3 Speed change over to A833
« on: March 11, 2013 - 08:39:36 AM »
Hey Guys, gonna take out the old factory 3 speed & install an A833. I am told that the bell housing is the same, does anyone know if I need to cut the driveshaft? Will the crossmember & mounts be the same? Many thanks, Mark

Mounts & driveshaft will be the same not sure they use the same large 727/833 slip yolk in the 3 spd though

I seem to remember that the bell housings may be the same, but the center hole is a different size.

That's correct, but if the hole in you bell housing is not the same has the A833, the front bearing retainer of the A833 can be swap to match your bell housing

I just didn't want the poster to think he was ready to go without any issues.  That is an issue when you think you have everything ready, only to find out yer shut down again searching and waiting for parts to arrive.
