Is there a steel aar hood?

I doubt it :eek2: I know a guy in the U.K. that is having one made, this is as far as they have gotten ,it has been put on the back burner if you will due to other work but it is and would be very difficult to make it , the hours are immense  :eek2:

I SPENT  way to many hours to get mine somewhat decent (THAT IS ME IN THE THIRD PIC ,I was rather stoked to get the car running),but yea there has to be another way

Wow, that looks really good Drew!

Do you have a thread on the making of that hood.

Really sweet job!

You could stamp them and reproduce them fairly easy, it's just getting the dies made that would be costly

The guy who did my steel TA scoop sells them for $1200. Add to that the cost of the flat hood to put it in if you don't have one, and the labor if you can't do it yourself. I don't know if he's ever considered a AAR scoop, but it couldn't hurt to ask him.

That steel AAR scoop does look great  :wow:

I made the one in my avatar using a cobra jet scoop. I just extended and rounded the inlet to match the AAR style. I think I picked it up for $15 at a swap meet, used $5 worth of abs for extensions and some bondo.

Do you have any pics , perhaps closer, and detailed?

That is very cool. Have you ever posted that you made that? I'm sure I didn't know.

Hmm, you know, I've never posted a build thread on my old piece of junk. Maybe it is time to do that.

Too bad I didn't take pictures of it when I first brought it home. M50s on 10" Cragars with air shocks and shag carpet. It was a veritable '70s time capsule. Only thing missing was "Desperado" air brushed across the trunk.

Specific to the hood, I'll see what I have. I have since taken it apart so I can certainly take pictures to highlight key areas. The one problem with my method was using the ABS. It has a memory from its forming and heat, like sitting in 100* direct sunlight on top of a 180* engine, can restore that memory and cause it to lift if it is not screwed or riveted in place.
