    Heater Box Rebuild/Restoration?

    Can someone help out with this aspect of my heater box rebuild/resto?
    I am missing the hook that is shown in the picture. Unfortunately, I don't have a shop manual to reference, and need to know more specifics on the size, length, and where it attaches up inside the cowl vent, etc. Can someone help? Thanks.

    I think it's going to take a lot of work to get that to fit.  The original piece has a bend in it right where it attaches to the heater box.  That bend can be tweeked to get the upper part of the hook attached.  I'd see if anyone on this site has one laying around.

    The upper part of the hook just goes over the lip up inside the cowl.  Put your hand up into the hole and you'll feel the lip.

    Thanks for the quick response guys.  The picture I attached was from a moparts.org member who was also missing the "hook".  He fashioned one using a threaded rod.  It would be great if someone had an extra one they were willing to sell.  Otherwise, I guess I could try shaping/bending my own.  Thanks for providing such detailed photos of the rod measurements.

    Oh no it isn't. I have found they average about 80 bucks but once in awhile you can catch folks sleeping at the wheel and steal one for $19 bucks!

    I was going down the route of making one myself but it became such a pain in the a@@ that I went and found one luckily on fleabay.

    This is one hard to find part. I have a B-Body rod you can cut down and use if you want to buy it off me.

    Here's two A-Body hooks currently for sale on ebay ($24.00 - $28.00 respectively; includes shipping).  They look just like the B-Body hook.  @ HP_Cuda:  How much for your hook?

    I thought I'd share an update on the heater box J-hook.  I purchased an A-body hook on ebay for $14.00 total (see 1st photo).  Using the photos and measurements that C O D Y provided, and additional photos of other E-Body J-hooks, I fashioned one from the A-body hook.  I think it came out pretty good.  I believe the measurements and angles are close enough to be a working E-body heater box J-hook.  The last two photos are a couple of the reference photos I used.  Thanks for all the help.
