What's your favourite auto TV series?
« on: March 22, 2013 - 12:08:24 AM »
I'm in need of another Auto TV series, so what do people like?
For me it's Hot Rod Magazine's Road Kill. Road kill isn't strictly TV, it's on youtube, but still awesome!

Graveyard Cars is usually pretty good. Listening to the tid bits of knowledge from Mark and Darren makes me feel like I'm not such a nut case by knowing these random facts, numbers and codes, haha. Plus the show is loaded with E bodies.

Thank god for fast forward!

Graveyard Cars is definitely awesome! There was a short series; I think might have been on the Speed Channel called "Drag Race High" It was a short reality show/series about two rival high school auto shop classes that are each given 10K and using a donated car (and MANY donated parts) build a drag car for a drag race show down against the rival shop class. I think it only ran the one season, but I loved it and how it followed the build, the students and the final drag race between the two high schools.  :burnout:

The one that tops it for me is probably PINKS. I still watch the re-runs as there as quite a few episodes that I missed.  :woo: :ylsuper: I'd like to see these programs resurrected!  :2thumbs:

For me it`s anything but West Coast Customs! I like Ish`s work but the rest of the show forget it. I especially can`t stand that dumb ass kid who looks like a giant Mr. Potato head!

For me it's Graveyard Cars. I make sure I'm home by 7Pm on Tuesday night so I try not to miss it. If I cannot be here it's the only program I'll DVR.

Unfortunatley listening to Mark ***** and moan like a woman for an hour makes my ears bleed.

Since I do all my own work on my cars I like the ones that are more technical and actually show and explain how to do things.Shows like Dream Car Garage, Gearz, Chop, Cut, Rebiuld, Musclecar.Drag race High was a cool show and of course Pinks for sportsman drag racing.Graveyard Cars was getting better for a few episodes but has gone back to showing more stupid antics/drama and less actual car stuff-it is barley watchable only because of all the Mopars on it.Top Gear-the british version- is awesome and very funny and the American version isn`t too bad but the test cars are mostly dream cars only affordable by the rich.

There used to be a show on when I was growing up, but I can't remember the name. They used to show lots of useful but inexpensive ways to get better performance out of your car. I remember they did an episode on re-jetting a carb, changing fuel pumps and lots of other stuff that didn't require a fully equipped shop with machining tools. They didn't get into changing over to fuel injection or any of the high dollar stuff. It was almost a back yard mechanic style show without all the drama that goes with the current soap operas that are on now.
Now about the only car show I watch is the guy with the funny mustache that travels around to car shows and private collections to chat with the owners and give information about the various cars he sees.

2006 Honda Civic Hybrid (It doesn't save gas, it just diverts it to the Cuda/Challenger)

First show sounds like Shadetree Mechanic which became...Two Guys Garage...which completely degraded into one of my least favorite shows.
The second show is My Classic Car.

My personal favorite is the British show Wheeler Dealers.  For the most part they do reasonable repairs and work on some cool cars.  A lot of shows like Chop Cut Rebuild or Musclecar do cool stuff but they have fully decked out shops with lifts, welders, plasma cutters, and other high end tools which are pretty out of reach.

I've never seen Graveyard cars but it sounds ok? ( I'd like to see the Mopars! :ylsuper: )
Somehow it's not available on TV around here? :dunno:
I'd say Gears is my favourite. Usually less expensive builds and lots of good tips etc.... AND NO DRAMA! I hate that on other shows, like the world is gonna end if you don't meet a deadline? :screwy:
