A question for our Canadian brethren...
« on: March 23, 2013 - 07:38:12 PM »
I saw a buddy of mine today who just got back from the Dominican Republic. He brought me back some fresh rolled gigars and a bottle of rum.  :woohoo:
Anyway he's telling me about his trip and that he met a Canadian at the hotel. In the course of conversation, the guy from north of of border says to my buddy Brad. ( NOT TO BE CONFUSED W OUR CANADIAN BUDDY BRAD70!!!!)      We know you Americans hate us.   :22yikes: WHAT??????  I looked at my buddy and said are you serious??  Brad says yep thats what he told me. I wont bore you w the rest of our conversation, as my bud didnt get it either,  but what the he11 is that about???

IDK?   Maybe he was one of those "liberal" types ...gay rights, save the planet, anti-gun, you get the picture.
Or another thought...? When the recession hit a lot of American based companies closed up and moved back to the USA. Maybe he lost a job?  I get that, ( moving back)I'd do the same thing, take care of your own first sort of a thing.
Maybe I'm kind of unique in that my wife is American as is all her family so I fit in?
Or maybe he was from Quebec? I've noticed they are not to popular south of the border! :grinyes: Lots around here share that opinion too!

I've run into people in the USA being "reserved" shall we say once they find out I'm Canadian, but they it's all good once they know I'm not from Quebec.

Haha Quebec is for sure a different subject. I have always been treated well in the US as a Canadian. But I'm also not walking around advertising it either.  As Patriotic as the US is I don't want to give anybody reason for a discussion shall we say..

I'm Canadian for a couple of more years, living in Puerto Rico and I always get asked if I'm from Q-beck when they hear I'm Canadian, but I just tell them I'm from Canada, not Q-beck. I've met more Canadians that hate the U.S than the other way around.

Canadians hate Americans because they think they should and most are too stupid to have their own opinion.  Americans are awesome and usually don't think twice about Canada.
FYI I was born in Canada and still live here

Hmm never heard that either.

I deal with a lot of US folks, and have never got that impression.

I fly a private jet so I spend lots of time in the States and have never heard an american say they disliked Canadians. But I have met a few that don't know where Canada is! no joke.

There was some US bad mouthing about rude & obnoxious Canadian cross border shoppers during Black Friday and Christmas. If that Canadian is from a border town maybe he's just blowing things out of proportion.
