would you or should this cuda be parted out?

I am hoping to get some of your thoughts on weather or not to part out this cuda. I have been told the parts are worth more than the car. Have any of you parted a cuda out? Did it work out well for you? Thanks.

He is located in Indiana the car has a 440 4sp Dana 60 has been sitting for 25 years engine on stand was freshens up awhile ago he said. He has some other cars also same early drag car style

I guess it comes down to a fundamental question:

How much of the car has been hacked to make it a drag car?

Looks like a decent car to restore. How is the rust and is it all covered up? If the top 1/2 is in good shape
 and the frame rails are good, I would think it would be worth saving. But if it's the almighty dollar in question then
you have to consider, how good of a job can be done stripping it? By the time you carefully tear it apart,log your parts,list and sell off everything, did you
do any better in the end?
If I cant fix it, it's broke

What are your plans for it?  Resto mod? Driver? OE restore?  It's not a good starting point for OE, but depending on how much of the interior is gutted and you might be able to make it into a driver.

 :iagree: and here's my :2cents: One of the things that often goes overlooked is the value of ones time. How many hours of your time will it take to disassemble the car, catalog the parts, advertise, sell, package and ship the parts? Don't underestimate how much time it will take to do all that cause it will be more than you think. I don't know how many times I've done this myself: parting a car out; or fixing one up to "flip". In the end I usually regret doing it because I invested so much of my time for what was a marginal return on the total time spent doing the job.

Its hard to judge from a couple of pics, but the car looks halfway decent so why tear it apart? Nothing says you have to restore it back to stock, or make a resto-mod out of it to sell it. Why not just try and sell it as a race car? Looks like a great start to a good race car (except for the 4-speed) for somebody. Race cars don't have to be "factory correct" they just have to be consistent. I'd clean it up, maybe drop the motor back in it and try to get it running and then try and sell it as is first. With all of the online places to advertise cars I think you could get a decent price with a minimal investment of your time. If you don't get any serious offers and everyone tries to low-ball you, then consider parting it out.

As far as plans for the car go I thought about putting the engine back in to sell but didnt want to if I would do better by selling parts.
 As to the rust it has a small amount of blistered paint on the quarters and at leaded seams. There is a small patch welded in on driver side front floorpan.
Interior is very nice almost perfect. It has 1 small crack in dash pad on right side and no carpet installed.
this is all I can type right now as i am doing this by phone. I think i want to drive over it.

Between your description and the pics it doesn't really sound half bad. I think it sounds like it should get a "stay of execution" (dismantling). After re-reading your first post it occurred to me that you only presented the question is it worth parting out. It doesn't say parting out versus selling whole; or parting out versus keeping it. I would assume the former as it seems like you want to get the some money out of it and maximize your profit. So maybe sell it as a "roller" and the engine and 4-speed separately? Or swap out the Dana for an 8 3/4 rear, and add the Dana to the engine and 4-speed to be sold separately? Those three assemblies right there and the roller body should bring some good money without having to invest a whole lot of time into it. Just remember to always account for the investment of your time when considering something like this.

Not only your time for all the sales go along with parting it out, but the space it keeps while it is sitting cut up waiting for the next buyer.

That car is too nice to part. Hose it off and stick it on eBay I think it might bring more then you think. Where are you located I might be interested in the drive train if you're close and you decide to go that way.
