wanted to get the back end up a little without 125 lbs air pressure in my air shocks..so,,i removed my stock hemi/440 springs and added and removed leafs from a set that was originally on a 318 car,,,and added a longer rear shackle designed for a hummer from mcvay performance/ebay,,correct 3"spacing inside diameter, discarded the short forward facing bottom leaf and ended up with a 7 leaf pak.cut the eyes off the 318 set and used it 4 the 7th spring,,any spring that had a better arch was used and the rest r out back of the man cave,.all gradually following the rear arch to support the back all the way to the axle..the rear shackle measures 5" ctr to ctr bolt,,up from 3 1/2" stock.fabbed to work on this application.cut and redrilled for lenght..haven't tried yet but my tape measure said the rear valance should bolt back on no problems.
it raised the rear a full 2" which was what i was looking 4..i wanted my rear wheel lip at the top of the tire without air pressure.and can adjust from there,,the pics show a before and after height..just 4 fun i aired up the shocks and can raise it 2 inches above the tire
.wiil run it 4 now with the airs and go from there,10lbs pressure just to preload them..hhhmmm,air bag ride?? all the springs r seasoned so in theory it should stay there..total cost with prothane bushings,,,35.00 bushings,55.00 shackle,,45.00 e-body 318 springs..blood and beer,,priceless..not to mention my time on vacation this week..
didn't trust the aftermarket springs that says,+1,+2,+3 above stock..whats stock?did not want to end up with the skyjacker look so i figured if i do it this way i can dial my height..
i think it will settle abit once i take it down the road, but the airs r still there just in case but i think very little air pressure will be involved,,should be no more pressure on the shock mounts than standard..
thanks to chryco,,suggestions,,and shelbydogg,thread..
