OK, I'm cruising home from work.  Going along with traffic on a 4 lane highway.  We are all doing about 65 mph (speed limit is 55).  Next thing I knew a trooper is behind me pulling me over.  I was in the middle of the pack almost. He gave me a ticket, OK here it comes, the ticket states under Charge - "Obedience to Traffic Control Devices."  Nature of Offense - Failed to Obey the Instructions of an Applicable Official Traffic Control Device.  He asked me if I understood the charge and I said not really.  He said "You looked at the speed limit sign and went faster." That is a new one on me.  Anyone else ever get this?  Plus the charges were as follows;
Fine-$25, E.M.S. - $10, General - $30, Costs - $37, and J.C.P./A.T.J. - $10 for a total of $112. What?

I would speed way more often if they wouldn't take points.  Oh how I wish Colorado had and utilized that law.

Pay the ticket, keep on the lead foot.

Government is corrupt from the top to the bottom.  Not surprising.
Every state has it's own way's of scamming your cash out of your wallet.

Maybe they are figuring out it doesn't do much good for anyone to take folks licenses away over simple things like speeding.

I had a similar situation years ago on th DC beltway: heavy traffifc, all speeding, me in the middle of the pack, me pulled over and ticketed. Part of the issue, I'm sure was that I was in the Challenger, which at the time was about 7 different colors. I think they were saying to themselves "He's got a fast car, but he's clearly too poor to afford a lawyer. Let's nail him"

Well that sucks . . . And if you were doing the speed limit, you would of got a ticket for being a hazard to others because you were not going with the flow of traffic.

yeah that does sound like a bs ticket, prolly not much you can do though.  per my average, im due for a ticket any time now.  looking forward to it

Around here lately they've been handing out lots of "THE COUNTY NEEDS MONEY" tickets for similar actions.

Well, I'm in a real conundrum here. I retired from the local fire department and my retirement check is funded by "collections" from local sources. So, I love to see folks get tickets around here - it makes sure my retirement checks don't bounce...       



That said, I have made a contribution or two of my own to the fund over the last few years....
