Need front axle ID help (on my MXT)
« on: March 30, 2013 - 12:26:06 AM »
Does anyone know what axle this is or a good website that would know?  The International dealership has absolutely no information on the MXT's and I want to remove my hub.  I can't seem to get the hub off to replace the rotor even though I've got it loose (can't see anything else that needs removed).  Need to find the type of axle so I can get a manual.  Don't want to put a puller on it if it still need to have something removed.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Cody , I would think that snap ring, take off and then that piece w the groove in it will have to be spun out, This kind of reminds me of very old style blazer / chevy truck hubs. BUT I've never heard/seen these before.. ever.  :grinno:

I agree its just like a old Chevy front axle with manual hubs. Take that snap ring off and you should be able to unscrew the center piece with a axle socket or a hammer and screwdriver. Then remove the bearing , pull the caliper And the whole assembly should come off.there might be a thin outter retainer ring also. I cant remember if you need to pull the axle shaft or not. You might have to seperate them on a bench. A good site is www.pirate4x4.com it will have all the info you need

I agree with the above, but also the splines on the shaft are probably a bit rusted to the splines in the hub. I wouldn't
be suprised if you need to hit the shaft with a rubber deadblow to loosen it.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

Great 4x4 site!  They were right on. A couple good blows and a little pressure from a puller and it fell right off.

Thanks man!
