I tried in google and some partial words came up in Croatian?

So Croatian??? I was guessing Serbian, but ok I think thats close. But I wont dare say the same. I've known some Serbians... sore subject at times.

I tried the google translate - unfortunately I cant read all the letters either

herein lies the peace
decree of God ????????
to or towards (depending) ????????

the letters are just eroded or chipped away on the right (??????).  comes up a little different depending were you put spacing. i did get a few more letters by playing with the contrast of the original photo

Yep, languages are VERY similar! Sentence construction is different and some words, but when a Croatian and a Serbian are talking each in their own language they understand each other perfectly. During the time of Yugoslavia the language was even called Croatian-Serbian.

The translation is:
Here lies in peace of God body of M... (missing name) Karic... (part of last name missing)
