Trim rings / dress rims for larger than 7 inch Rallye wheels
« on: March 14, 2005 - 11:03:07 PM »
Hey guys,

I see plenty of places selling Rallye wheels upto 10 inch wide, but can't seem to find anyone who makes dress rims to suit these larger wheels. Does anybody know a company selling them? If not, whats the fix?

Cheers

They are non existent.  :(

I ordered 15x8" wheels and 15x7" Trim rings, there will be a gap but they DO fit.
I'm guessing the gap will be 1" but you'll only be able to tell up close.  ;)

I assume you mean .10" inch?   A 1.0" gap would be pretty hideous  :ack:

Nope I mean 1" 15x7" trim ring to cover a 15x8" wheel would leave hmmmmmmm 1"

Ugly or not I have to see what it looks like.  ;)

huh? I think the gap will be marginally larger on a 15"x8" wheel but probably nowhere near 1".  Unless you are referring to a custom backspace

Chryco - you want to weigh in on this one? Is the hub of a rallye wheel displaced 1" inboard on a 15"x8" wheel as compared to a 15"x7"? I was thinking the hub and center wheel location was the same; it is the inside rim that is displaced further inboard making the total wheel wider and increasing backspace.

I'm actually not sure but I hope your right because 1" won't be pretty but I have no choice it,s the gap or NO trim ring.  :( :'(

Hey NZ - you were spot on that; on 15x8 wheels the wheel is widened on the outboard side to preserve back spacing. Thus, you will realize about a 1" gap. There is a guy on moparts that is modfying wheels to be 8" and wider. here is a pix he sent me with the ring in place:

Yip, I got a set of 15x8" ordered the 7" rings, they didn't fit, so I now have 15x7" and they fit GREAT.

Can still house my 265/60 rears so I'm happy.  :grinyes:
