Take the money. If you do not sell him the car how much is your time worth trying to find another buyer.Taking phone calls, calling people back, trying to meet up with people that do not show up.All that then the next buyer offers you 11k. Take the money and move on.Just my 2 cents.

Buying and selling is a lot like playing poker. Don't feel bad about the thought of the guy trailer home empty - he doesn't want to do that either. Put emotion aside and put your poker-face on. You said you advertised it for $13.5K(?) knowing you needed to get $12K out of it and he offered you $11.5K (was that his first offer or did you guys haggle up to that?). He doesn't know what you need to get out of it, all he knows is you are asking $13.5K so he threw you an offer of $11.5K - $2K below your asking price. I think there is some wriggle room there - he's feeling you out. Haggle with him for I think you can squeeze a bit more out of him. Remember, he doesn't want to go home with an empty trailer over $500 bucks. But if calls your bluff tell him "ok, you win! I'll let you have it for $11.8K" and make him feel like a winner!
Cheers!

lol, he actually started at 10k, and i dont necessarily blame him, i think if i was buying it i would be looking to spend about 10 for it, but that doesnt change what i need to get out of it.  Im gonna let him sweat a bit, come at him later this afternoon and see if i cant get a little mor outta him

$11,900 take it.  It's a psychological thing that extra $100 to make an even $12k sounds too much.

I sent him home, I had him come over and we talked for about an hour, I told him about my hesitations to sell, and about the other car being gone, and he was really cool, he offered to come get it still for 11 of I change my mind.  Really nice guy, felt bad sending him home empty handed, but I kept thinking more and more about the time and effort I have in this car and of how proud of it I am and will be when it's finished, felt right to keep it

so he came back, lowered his offer, and you still feel bad?

Don't feel bad that he traveled and didn't get it. If he gave you what you wanted he would have owned the car. I had people travel to me and try to lowball me. They left without my car. I have also missed out on a few cars being cheap. A few of those were from members here too. When its the right car someone will jump on it.

No, he offered to make the drive from utah to nebraska again if i changed my mind, but for 500 less to offset the fuel, it is about 550 miles each way, so 2 trips with a trailor, 2200 miles if i have him come back.  And he was pulling with a 06 ram 2500 4x4 hemi, probably getting 11-12 mpg.  Like i said, he was really cool about it, wasnt all pissy, just offered to make the drive again if i changed my mind.

:clueless:  So are you going to keep your car and not go for a '70-'71 car?  :clueless:
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.
