Caught the little bastard that broke into my truck. Last night at about 3 am Lucky the guard dog started barking and woke me up. The guy had climbed over the 8 foot gate on my front porch, cutting himself up pretty good on the sharpened spikes on the top :stirpot: and was trying to get the front door open. I called my cop neighbor while my wife called 911 and then I just sat and watched him trying to get the door open until my neighbor called to say he was out front. Cops showed up and hauled him away in the back of the cop car. It was actually pretty funny. The guy was trapped between the front gate and the front door with armed  people blocking both his escape routes.

The one in my avatar is one of the inside guard dogs but she's bigger now. The outside one is a medium sized rescue that earned her keep last night.

There are men so incorrigibly lazy that no inducement that you can offer will tempt them to work; so eaten up by vice that virtue is abhorrent to them, and so inveterably dishonest that theft is to them a master passion. When a human being has reached that stage, there is only one course that can be rationally pursued. Sorrowfully, but remorselessly, it must be recognized that he has become lunatic, morally demented, incapable of self- government, and that upon him, therefore, must be passed the sentence of permanent seclusion from a world in which he is not fit to be at large.

William Booth

I think people that steal, have no place in society and should be put down just like an animal that has lost it's usefulness.

.,

We call them Tweekers.

Like Zombies, they roam the night looking for anything of value to take without any remorse or feeling of what they do.

The gate is mostly ornamental, but when I built it I sharpened all the spikes along the top. Some of the houses in Puerto Rico are like fortresses. 8 to 10 foot concrete walls all around, razor wire on top, bars on all the windows. I live out in the middle of cow country and felt like welding something. I use it mostly to keep weed wackers and other yard tools I'm using from walking away.

I'd highly suggest anyone reading this to consider installing remote cameras. You can get a nice set off 4 with lights from Costco for about 300 dollars. Easy to install and you can view them from your smart phone or laptop.  Some will alert you of any movement.   Also,Your insurance premiums may go down as a result.  I've installed a few sets recently for clients.  They work so good for the price we are putting them up at the shop. Thieves are the lowest form of life known to mankind.   I'd personally just squeeze one off and let the cops clean it up.   Then there wouldn't be so many...

I have a camera system with 8 cameras and I love it. When the dogs bark I can check the monitor to see what's going on without being seen. I actually bought 2 4 camera systems and hooked all the cameras to one monitor/HDD and the other monitor is beside my computer in the living room with a single input signal showing me all the cameras. The living room one works as a backup as well as recording everything whether the motion detector goes off or not. I didn't build my front gate out of necessity, I built it because I needed welding practice, I like building things, my front door is glass and I live in a hurricane zone so it protects the door a little without having to put up the storm shutters, and it keeps the neighbors dog from peeing on my front door and driving the inside dogs nuts. The fact that it caught a night rat was just a bonus. When I was in Canada I could never have done it for fire reasons, but down here the house is concrete and block so fire isn't a really big fear. I'm also a minor league prepper because of being in a hurricane zone. I have a 600 gallon cistern and a 400 gallon one. The 400 is filled by rainwater and has a crossover so I can fill both if I need to. I also have a beast of a generator that could probably run my whole neighborhood, and I'm also going to build a small battery bank that will be fed by a windmill or two. It's also one of the reasons I swapped my gas Ram for a diesel, I can make my own bio diesel which is probably going to be my next project.

This is what my cameras see.
