70 barracuda
« on: April 07, 2013 - 12:19:52 PM »
When I started my Barracuda this morning Gasoline was coming out of the fuel Pump.
I'm not able to tell what part of the pump it is leaking from.
The hoses look fine.
Can fuel leak from the body of the fuel pump itself?
I drove the car for the first time in six months the other day and it ran fine.
If someone can guide me along I would appreciate it.

I just checked the fuel pump again, and it looks as though the fuel is coming out of one of the ports on the side of the pump.

Sounds like the car sits for long periods of time. I would look at the rubber fuel line being dry rotted as the first culprit.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

Andy-It looks as though It's coming out of the open port on the side of the fuel pump.
Is that possible?

That's the vent and yes it can leak there when the diaphragm goes bad.

Thank you! I will now attempt to change the fuel pump.
I have a 440 six pack. How difficult is it to change the fuel pump.

Kinda the same thing when a water pump goes out. Fluid runs out of the weep hole.

The pump shouldn't be any harder to change in a 4 barrel set-up IMHO.

check your oil also , it can run down into the oil pan where the lever operates off the cam
