My Daily rider thinks it's a dirtbike?

Nice! No shortage of bikes at your place. Can easily tell where your heart lies ...

Your daily rider - looks like a mutated Bandit? From the black engine I'm guessing a 1200? I had a '98 1200 Bandit before I went retro with the '83 GS. That 1200 Bandit was a great all around bike - great ergo's and a real torque monster!
Cheers!

I ride.   Can't wait.  Season started last week.  Looks like it has been shut down with this storm though.

My street ride. 2006 GSXF 750

And I ride a dirtbike.  I'm a snow splitter up here.  We bust up the snow and open the thousands of miles of trails in the rockies.
Me and my brother.  I ride the xr 400.  Although, that's my brother on it in this pic.

I have to replace my rear wheel bearing before I can ride this year.

I just spent the last two weeks getting my daily driver ready for the season.  My bike is a 08 kawasaki concours 1400.  Sport touring model.   Its got 32k mi on it now.  It will carve the back roads, but still drive me 500 miles in a day without much discomfort.  I think it is supposed to run high 10's and I have had it over 150 mph with the bags on it.   It is putting out 145 hp to the wheel and weighs about 620 lbs with fluids.  I have already put on EBC front rotors and pads and added a different windshield.  I just pulled it apart and did a valve adjustment, added a fuel injection programmer (dynojet powercomander 5), new front tire, heated handgrips (need those in Wisconsin), and installed an Ohlins rear shock.  Ohlins front forks wont be here until early May.  Waiting for springs from Sweden is the story.  Now all I need is a good downpour to wash the salt and sand from the roads.  Let it rain!

That looks like a really fun bike.  It's cool to have that kind of power and still be able to ride 500 miles.

stuck in the snow

This was an intense water crossing. Snow's melting.  Had to clear out the forest service road closed signs as usual.

If your into riding, try this forum.  http://www.advrider.com/forums/index.php

I really enjoy it.  There are regional sections and you can meet up with local folks.
Great road games on the site too.

Beautiful old bikes guys.  I rode a Suzuki 185 for years in the 70's, got out of bikes after that especially after having kids, and got back into bikes in 2002 when the first stop for the Harley 100th tour was in Atlanta and I said I'd like to get a bike and the wife said go for it!  I just bought my 2nd Harley a 110th Electra Glide Ultra Limited, and its an awesome bike.  Planning on riding to Milwaukee in August for the 110th celebration, anyone else here going?  It would be cool to hook up.

Later, Jim

The closest I came to having a motorcycle was a 1965 Honda Super 90.

Funny story, I was driving around an area where there were a lot of college kids that rented apartments.  I saw what I thought was a moped.  I dragged it into my car and thought it was kind heavy for a moped then I noticed it had no pedals.  Got it home and saw it said Honda Super 90 on the frame.  It was missing the seat and gas tank and looked like it was left outside since the 90s.  Thought I would bring it home and play with it.

Ened up giving it away for free months later when I felt I had no time for it.  The guy that I gave it to had one of these when he was a kid and was going to restore it with his son.   He asked if my car under the car cover was a Cuda or a Challenger.  I thought  he must know cars.  Talked for a bit and turns out he had issues with his diabetes such that he would black out when he was driving and no longer drives.  Sad because he had a 1967 Corvette in his garage he couldn't drive.

Looked like this but not as nice.
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

I've only owned one motorbike and it was not a street bike.  I was about 13 or 14 and my father bought me a Yamaha 80 dirt bike.  Had loads of fun for many years riding all over town, out to the Uncles farm and racing my cousin with his Honda 50.  I sold it about 3 years later and never looked back.  These photo's are not mine but this is what it looked like.  I seem to like yellow & black.

I've also attached a few old pictures of my Uncle Ron sitting on a bike but I know little about it.  Maybe someone here can tell me something from the picture of what type of bike it might be.  I thought maybe a "Indian" but not sure.  These are the only photo's that I have.

I super dig that H2!  If I ever end up with a classic motorcycle collection, that will end up in my garage for the cool factor.  Plus I am a team green fan, so a two stroke Kawi couldnt be bad.

A couple of years ago, by nutball fiend and his buddy got a couple of Honda Super 90s running and drove them from Madison Wi, to DesMoines Ia. area to look at a 50's ford F450.  They bought it and thew the bikes in the back and drove the truck home.  He said it was one of the best motorcycle rides he has ever been on!  Top speed of 40 MPH, and just fun holding them wide open on back roads for 15 hours, laughing the whole way.  I thinks he is still a little nuts.

When is the rain going to stop?  I want to ride, but endless days of rain and cold are of no help.  Woke up to an inch of snow on the ground this morning.  The forecast isnt spectacular for the next week either.   :crying:

Well if you like 2 strokes then here is another one I have...2002 KX500..pipe, reeds, steely flywheel weight, 14 tooth in the front and the head shaved to raise compression. Kicks the hell out of my sons new YZ450F with an akropovic pipe. I guess it helps having owned a Yamaha/Kawasaki dealership for 12 years. I have collected quite a few bikes over the years.

I would be afraid to drive that KX500!  It just seems insane to try to control all of that off road.  I will stick to four strokes off road.  I did do a little research on Kawasaki KR1 as a vintage import.  I am not sure if I could even get it here as a two stroke, much less be able to title and ride it.  I think that would be a cool collectable street bike since we couldnt get them here in the US.  Canada was able to get them though.

Here are a couple toys out of my collection. I was a bike mechanic in the 70's and early 80's and have a nice collection of bikes.
These are a couple of my favorites.   1970 triumph tiger 650, 1958 cushman road king, homemade tryke
The tryke was built in my high school shop class in 1973 restored in 2010, 1963 vw powered, hard to keep the front wheel on the ground!!!
The last picture is when the tryke was first built.  Ahh to be young again !!!
