Am I correct in that ZDDP oil additive is necessary for ALL flat tappet lifters, whether they be solid/mechanical or hydraulic? I ask because I have a MOPAR Purple Shaft Hydraulic Cam with Hydraulic flat tappet lifters and want to ensure the necessity of using a ZDDP additive. (70 Cuda/miild street build 440)
If i do need ZDDP for hydraulic lifters, does Valvoline VR-1 have high enuf zinc levels or do I still need to add a ZDDP additive in addition to the VR-1?
Also, is 20/50 in the VR-1 too thick? Should I use the VR-1 10/30 instead.
