Rallye Redline - Thoughts?
« on: April 10, 2013 - 07:49:04 PM »
We'll i've got a pretty good interest rate at my credit union, and found an employer discount program at work good for ~$1000.  So I'm thinking about pulling the trigger early on a new challenger.

I'm torn between the Rallye Redline and a lightly optioned RT.  I'm trying to keep it less than $32K.

Haven't driven the 6 speed yet.  That might be the nail in the coffin.  I think that would be too much fun to pass up.  On the other hand, I still want my wife to be able to drive it once in a while.  So the auto transmission would be better.

If I pick up a Rallye Redline, will I be ostracized here?   :walkaway:

Anyone own or test drive the Rallye?

Never driven the v6, but drove a rental RT auto, very enjoyable to drive, quick, smooth, and averaged 27.6 mpg on the interstate!

Well, I drove a V6 today, and it was pretty peppy.  Then I took an RT with a 6 speed for a ride.  I have an appointment later today at the hospital to have my smile surgically removed.

I'm going to order an RT to my liking.

Hope to have it in time for the trip to Carlisle.

The RT classic was about 2K out of my budget, with some features I wanted.

We bought the Blacktop charger with the 3.6, but...
it has the 8speed auto, which works great. Quick enough in sport mode (about 6.0 sec 0-60) and 30 mpg at 75 mph on the road. More like 32 if you can keep it under 70mph, but I cant.
We got the charger with leather, nav, etc for about $27k, so you should be able to buy for well under $30k.
Good luck whatever you decide.

I would definatly pick the R/T , if you talk to some like Dave @ roseville you may be able to get a slightly better price & get the classic you want , some dealers will move on price .

Mine is a highly optioned R/T Classic.  Stickered for 38k, picked it up with 16 miles for 31k.  Don't be afraid to wheel and deal.
Yes I own a 1972 Dodge Challenger Convertible T/A S/E with a 440 Six Pak. Can it get any more wrong?

V-6 w/the 5-speed?

 :grinno:

Maybe if it had the 8-speed, but for $32k, that's close to R/T territory.  Will have much better resale too.

No no, It's already been on order for 3, going on 4 weeks.

So I'm on the same hurry up and wait schedule as you.

Can't ever remember anticipating a vehicle purchase so much.   :bananasmi

Well, just got the word that the car arrived today.

Thought I had another 2 weeks to finalize the financing.  Probably get to pick it up on Tuesday.

Did get to take it for a drive.  It is sweet!

The wait will kill me.
