Vanishing Point 1995 version on DVD
« on: March 15, 2005 - 10:03:27 PM »
Best Buys now has the 1995 version of Vanishing Point, in stock, on DVD for $9.99. Its was only shown once on TV and has never before been available on VHS or DVD. I like this one better than the original because it has a plot, and because it has a 68 Charger RT as well as the white Challenger.

We were actually looking for that DVD yesterday.  I have never seen that version.  I can just about talk along word for word while watching the original version.  Guess I have watched it one too many times.   :banghead:

I guess I'll have to wait until it shows up somewhere else. I promised the nice folks at Best Buy that I would never darken their doorway again! :nono:

They didn't want to honor an extended warranty I bought on a TV. It was my choice to boycott them. Probably safer for the manager too!

Im not a fan of Best Buy either, BB owes me a couple hundred in rebates from the last couple of years. I just go to Circuit City now because they are usually cheaper, send me my rebates, and dont have the annoying greeter at the front doors. According to CircuitCity.com, they will be recieving the DVD on the 22nd, so I'll buy it from them.

Not to mention there isn't much dialogue in the original.

the new version is not nearly as good because it is lame and slow. it is much more family than the one made in 1971. it was not very good. if you wont to see the best car movie ever go buy the orriginal one it is much better.

We (squirrel and I) watch the original one all of the time.  We did have to check out the newer one, but I wasn't too impressed.  It is nice to see the cars and all, but the chases were inferior to the original ones.

My brother recorded the remake for me from cable onto VHS back then...I watched it again last november & I actually fell asleep while playing!!!
I'm so embarrassed to admit, I've never fallen asleep during a car-type movie! ::) I actually felt remorseful for the actors....the cars were the stars (what I saw of them ;D).

Bottom line; the original will be forever!
