    WTB 70 restored Cuda

    Looking for my mid-life crises, a 70 Cuda. Not looking for a total original restore, doesnt have to be matching numbers, a resto mod is OK. Must be in excellent condition, turnkey ready and be OK with me having an inspection done on it. Not set on a particular motor / tranny combo, will check out everything sent my way. Dont want a convertible or project car. First choice is Plum Crazy, 2nd choice is Black. Prefer a shaker hood but it's not a deal breaker. Found a resto mod near me and another one a State away that are nice but nothing has made me run to the bank yet. I'm in CA but willing to have one shipped to me. Been checking Cudaworld, ebay, and other classic car websites, thought I'd try here. Anyone out there have something for my mid-life crises? Info, price, pics and a clip of it running would be greatly appreciated.

    Heres a resto mod I was casually looking at online. Seller says it's fuel injected. I noticed a few things but you guys pick it apart for me!

    Looks good to me.  If you are not concerned with originality, that one looks good.  Fuel injected usually means reliability.  Looks like a costly one, but since you do not list your budget, it must mean its pretty high.  Get one you like, not one that someone on this forum would like.  Some like it plain or some with peanut.  When I got my Cuda, I knew what I wanted and it did not matter what anyone else thinks.  I am sure I can say that most everyone will appreciate what you get.  I would get this one after an inspection for condition.  Can you point us to the ad?  I would like to read what the seller says about it.

    Thanks! My budget is around 50K which I'm sure will keep the real nice ones out of reach but hopefully I'll find a nice resto mod or one thats not all original. The first one in your reply is nice but out of budget. 2nd one I like the black but blue interior? Wow, no!  Third one nice too.

    Tomorrow I will post pics I took and details of a black 70 Cuda here in CA the guy wants $50K for. Complete restore, $90K invested, build sheet, all receipts and a baby book of everything put into the car, airbag suspension, non-matching 340 6-pk, 5 speed tranny, all new interior with custom Carillo seats, very nice but I dont know if it's worth $50K. I'll post pics and a video if I figure how to do it off my camera. I can use all the advice I can get.

    If indeed the seller can show he spent $90k for the restoration, then I think its at a very good price.  If the bottom is spotless, panels lazer straight, paint finish flawless, panel fitment, no rust behind the wheels, etc.  then I think its worth it.  Its worth whatever you are willing pay for it.  Its pretty stock looking with some nice add ons.  A shaker setup is $2K+. Sounded like I could hear an exhaust leak when it was running, but not sure just by video.  Easy issue to fix.

    The car in the video is very nice, but is it a real 'Cuda or a modified Barracuda? Does the VIN start with BS23 (Cuda) or BH23 (Barracuda)?  It is definitely going to make a difference in the value of the car, no matter how nice the resto is.  The Blue one in the video has leather seats--a nice option, but it also has the wrong year's rallye dash.  Personally, I think you can get a very nice authentic Cuda from a private seller for under 50K.  If you aren't sure about the VINs and where to look for them, be sure to ask.  Anyone on this forum will be glad to offer advice.

    The car in the video shows

    1) A 440-6 pack but the disk brake setup is for a Hemi
    2) Wrong Rallye guages
    3) I saw a heater control setup that didn't have AC but it looks like they did an aftermarket AC on it
    4) There is something going on with the hockey stripes but I cannot put a finger on it (either placement or wrong/bad sticker)

    Btw, how much does the guy want for the one in the video?

    Found the ad for the video of that restomod.  Seems like they did some work on it like all wheel disc, keisler trans, frame extensions etc.  Im sure you can make an offer a bit lower than asking price and its painted in Viper blue.  Good photos of that car.  Let us know about the black one you are looking at.

    The blue one in the video starts with BH, it's a Barracuda, not a Cuda.

    Here's a candidate with No Reserve.  You can ask anyone who lives near this car's location (Eastern WA.) to inspect it.  Looks like a slight crease on the right qtr panel but everything else looks ok.  Another restomod with several videos.
