Is it time for new spindles?????
« on: April 14, 2013 - 03:28:45 PM »
I am cleaning up parts for my suspension rebuild.

Working on the spindles and not sure if they are good or not.

Here are a few pics.

I am assuming that the gunnk on the face of the spindle is not a big deal.

This one cleaned up a bit.

I am a little worried here...you can feel the groves on the bearing surface with your fingernail.

You can sort of see the nick on the edge of the bearign surface in this pic...I don't think its on the bearing surface though.

SO what do  you think, are these useable as is????

Thanks,

Jason

Looks like a bearing had possibly seized at one point. The bearings have an inner race that just press fits on that area, the bearing doesn't spin on that....so YES I would reuse that spindle. Obviously replace all the bearings...They're relatively cheap.
I've taught you everything you know.....but I haven't taught you everything I know !

Nothing wrong with them. You just need new bearings, cups and inner seal.

Jason, take a little fine grit emery paper and buff them up a bit. The curved radius is where the inner seal runs, so try to make it decently clean and smooth. Don't forget to pack the new bearings as they come empty. If you need a seal driver, call, you can borrow mine. Ian
