GOING TO get my Challenger soon
« on: April 16, 2013 - 04:41:15 PM »
Well I decided to go ahead and get the 2013 Challenger R/T. the dealer here found 2  white ones with the automatic transmission that I want one with a sunroof & the other without. they said they will have the car delivered to them from California. the sunroof car has the following information which I will paste here. let me know what you guys think about this one. ALSO, do cars delivered to California from the factory any different than cars delivered to Nevada or other states ? sometimes California has   vehicle requirements that other states do not. thanks guys for any input with this. do all the automatics come with 306 gear ratio and how is that gearing ?

Bert,

I don't think this is like the old days where California cars were different than the rest. I think they are all the same now for sake of simplicity.

The only other thing I can add is the 3:06 gearing was an option on the 6-banger Challenger. I'm stuck with the 2:91 gears, but even with that I'm surprised by it. I imagine the 3:06 will feel like you are driving a rocket.   :2thumbs:

EDIT: I have 2:65 gears.   :o

On Friday, I drove this one: 6 cylinder auto with 3.07 gears.  It was pretty peppy.

Then I drove the one below with the 5.7 hemi and 6 speed manual.  I thought it had 3.92 gears, but I was wrong.  With those gears, I'm sure it would want to snap your neck.  The way it sat, it really wanted to get up and go.  Just before we got on the highway, the salesman said to me "just remember, it's my plate, but your license."   :burnout:     He told me one customer had a Challenger up to 115 mph once, on a test drive.   :22yikes:

I think they have a fairly low first gear in the trans. It will take off like a rocket. Mine has no problem blowing the tires off.

Thanks guys, so the 306 gears are a good ratio then ?

Last year, I drove a 2010 RT 5.7 Automatic.  Don't know what gears it had in it.  But I was honestly disappointed.  When I drove the 6 cylinder above, I was pretty impressed.

I've seen both 3.07 and 3.06 ratios listed. I don't know why there's a difference.  Maybe it's a typo.  Seems odd that there's a set so close together, both offered for automatics.

I think you would be happy with that setup.  It will definitely give you a bit more "off the line" performance.

No not yet I am hoping for Thursday, as I don't want the guy picking it up driving all the way there with the car they are trading for the challenger  & then driving back tired & in a hurry to get back home almost 300 miles each way.  He is a retired  older man . I want the  engine to be broken in correctly during that first 300 miles & if the guy is tired which he will be if he tries to make that round trip he may ignore what he needs to pay attention to. I have made this same trip  round trip on the same day  a few times and I know al I wanted to do was GET HOME. I hope he spends the night after dropping the car from here and picks up the challenger the next day  wide awake and in a good mood.
