Not a HUGE fan of '71 Challengers (yes, I'm biased) but that is probably the best '71 small block Challenger you will ever find.

:iagree: Deep pockets for sure...Unfortunately if they do sell it for that price the owner is losing quite a bit of money on it :faint:

Wondering if the vehicle is still for sale?  Or did they find a buyer?

Still for sale as fas as I know. He did have it on consignment at Legendary Motor Cars, but has since taken it home for the winter.

And I might add, it really is matching numbers - both engine & trans with no funny business on either.

A stunningly beautiful car!

I'm sure it's a beauty and like you say Alan, some of your best work. $129k for a 340 convertible seems a little steep.  Isn't that price what you'd expect to pay for a hemi or a 440-6pak?  Also, is the car an R/T?  Can't tell but the striping doesn't have the R/T.

Also, you said at $129K the owner wouldn't get his investment back.  Man, that's one high dollar restoration.  I'm restoring a '70 Challenger R/T convertible 383  (similar condition to how your beautifully restored 71 440-6 was).  I only expect to be $90k into it once I'm done.

No R/T Challenger convertibles were made in 1971.

The owner made a couple of common mistakes during the restoration that ended up costing him extra....I believe he has about $190K invested.

 :eek7:

Wow!  I had thought that he was closer to the $150K mark?

The asking price of the car is in line with other comparable sales -- the GY3 shaker 340 car has now traded hands twice at over 100K
