SHAKER (4 barrel carb/air cleaner post/stud)?
« on: April 18, 2013 - 03:32:07 AM »
Can anyone tell me were I can get a "correct" air cleaner stud/post for a 4 barrel SHAKER?  Not just a length of all-thread.  I had a correct length stud (with threads on each end), but the guy that rebuilt my engine 6 years ago never returned it, and he doesn't remember anything about it.  Thanks.

What carburetor ? Here's Carter AVS http://www.ebay.com/itm/MOPAR-Carter-AVS-Air-Cleaner-Carb-Stud-Carburetor-4BBL-68-71-440-HP-69-70-Dodge-/230964706590?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35c691bd1e&vxp=mtr#ht_1032wt_806

Thanks for the response.  Not quite sure it matters, but it's a Holley 4150.  The important thing is that the air-cleaner stud/post be long enough for use with a SHAKER.

Put your setup together and measure how long of a stud you need.  This place sells 3 different ones and you can contact them for the length, or maybe Mopar Dave at Roseville.

Shaker cars use the same carb studs as any other car.

I appreciate your feedback, but something tells me that's not necessarily true.  Why then was the stud that was returned to me by my engine guy too short?  Is there NO member on this forum that has an original SHAKER set-up (either assembled or unassembled) that can take a photo of their air cleaner stud (not some crappy "all-thread") against a tape measure, so I can see the proper lengths (total and threaded ends)?  Thanks.

Have you checked the MMC Detroit e body fastener guide?  I'm not sure carb studs are in it, but they are I'm sure it would list all the dimensions/finish/thread for the various options

Everything I see lists it by vendor and doesn't list any differences for a shaker.
a holley 4V would be 3.5" overall, .5 threaded on the carb side.  Thread on them is 1/4-20

Oh well  :dunno:  Since it appears that no one here has an original SHAKER set-up with an original air cleaner stud to measure and take a photo in order to help me out, I guess I'm gonna just have to wait until I get my carb back from being rebuilt so I can put my set-up together and take a measurement for the correct stud length.  Thanks to all who offered advice.

So, you're saying that ALL air-cleaner studs are the same length?
