I'll do the side by side pics  when my faketuff comes in  (hope they don't backorder like MikeTyler said)

Summit Racing has them instock. Plus they are 5 cents cheaper!!! Think about all the stuff you can buy with your savings!.....I ordered my wheel on sunday and received it tuesday, so unless I bought the last one, they should still have some.

when I got home yesterday there was a JEGS box waiting on me. They were supposed to have cancelled the valve cover order but looks like it shipped anyway. I called them and after return, they are crediting my CC the full amount. The box looks like it has been in a very damp area. So far, no problems with them.

There is a guy on Ebay that is selling what appears to be the #860 as a "Grant/Chrysler tuff wheel repro". He has pics of both side by side. His price? $95+shipping. A true entrepreneur.

Here are his side by side pics:

I just finished installing my tuff wheel. Overall, it was pretty easy, just a couple holes and a slot and I was on my way. The only problem I have is that I went from a BIG ol' wooden steering wheel to this lil' thing and I dont have the correct horn botton cover. Does anyone know if the horn switches are the same???? I need to know before buying a tuffwheel style horn switch cover. Either way, with a little cutting and paint I put the old switch cover on and it doesnt look bad, but I still would rather have the correct one.

Heres a side by side comparison of my old wheel vs. my new one

Heres a picture that shows just how much smaller my new tuff wheel is compared to the old one

This is what it looks like on the car with my rigged up horn switch cover (excuse the dust, dirt, tools, and car pieces in the interior)

ok, I got mine today and I guess it looks ok. I almost wish I had bought the black because the powder coated metallic doesnt go with ANYTHING in the cabin and it kind've looks cheap. Then again, the original satin finished stainless (or whatever finish that was) didnt go with anything in the car either except the trim on the guages.

I wonder what the metal looks like under that paint?

Well I'm glad I asked that. After stripping the powder coat (a little dubious I must say) the results are an improvement and to my eyes, a closer match to the original tuff wheel and the rallye dash trim. Strip it, Flitz it, then clear it to make sure it stays looking like brushed stainless.

Probably not for everybody but ck it out:

yes, it is quality paint and all (very slow to remove) but it almost like a fine metallic white.

The paint is slow to separate even with the best stripper out there so be patient. Probably a characteristic of powdercoat

Thanks for the advice and warnings.  What stripper did you use?

Klean-Strip KS-3 Premium sold by Home Depot. It was not their chepaest grade but I would try whatever stuff you have laying around. The nice part was that I accidentally got some stripper on the rubber and thought it would fry it. Didnt seem to hurt the rubber at all. go figure

Good luck

Well, I got mine yesterday from Summit and spent about 2 hours getting all the holes drilled.  I read where a couple of people said it only took 10 min?  I guess I'm slow!  I spent extra time making sure everything was aligned and tapped the mounting holes for the horn switch like the factory wheel.  Couple of things:

- I like the feel and smaller size
- It's harder to see some of the gauges because the wheel blocks them.
- During alignment of holes I noticed the original wheel is not centered on column, it's shifted up, probably to allow better viewing of gauges!
- Not at all happy with adhesive left after removing the foam pad from Grant.  It's noticable if you look.

- Love the stripped version, this will be left for another weekend!

Not sure; I dont think it is stainless. It does have a nice micro finish to it and if I really compounded and polished, I think I could get it close to a polished aluminum like finish.

What the heck? Take it off and strip a spot near the hub on the back side and see if you like the looks of it. Thats what I did before I committed to the entire wheel

If it wasnt for that damn slot, I would have had the wheel done in under 30 minutes....The first one I did took me about an hour, the second took about 45 minutes.....both of them would have been done ten minutes earlier if there wasnt a slot needed.
