'74 Cuda Heater Box to firewall top cowl clearance
« on: March 16, 2005 - 04:17:14 PM »
Hi,
Being up her e in the "cold canadian north" I have to hav ethe heater back in the Cuda.
Heater box etc has been out of the car for 4 years.
I am to the point of putting interior back together, but when I mount the heaterbox and sng up the three firewall bolts around the blower motor that sticks through the firewall and get things to where they look like they should be, I have this 2" or better gap from the top of the heater box to the bottom of the cowl opening it meets up with?
There really is not adjustment, so not sure what the dillio is.
Anyone able to post a few pics of theirs insalled showing gaps etc.
Thanks,
Dan

I believe there is a large "pillow" gasket that goes there.

I can help withthe gasket but dont have a clue on the J-bolt. CP - can you elaborate on where the J-bolt is located?

it hooks onto the lip of the cowl & drops down through a small hole in the front  heater box , the J bolt has a nut that threads onto it & you just tighten the nut to pull the heater box tight to the cowl
The parts book doesn`t show the J bolt except in Valiant A/C the page before the pic you posted Mike, which doesn`t show the correct location
