« on: April 22, 2013 - 07:27:18 PM »
Hey guys,

I'm lookin to purchase a trailer to haul my cuda and was wondering what everyone uses or suggests. Something to handle a cuda/chally size car.

Please provide length and width and pics if you have any.

Thanks in advance.

What will you be towin it with?? I would recommend a 24-26 foot as that way you don't run out of room. Wouldn't want to pull with a 1/2 ton though.

What is the width of your trailer between the fenders?

That's a sweet setup/car BTW

Thank you.

I'm using my 1/2 ton Dodge equipped with the tow package and lift kit. It's handled quite a bit it her days.

I'm lookin at a gooseneck right now, which is what I am equipped with along with bumper pull.

I have a 20 ft Hallmark enclosed trailer. It is big enough for the car. Not a lot of extra room but I don't tow very often. It has room for the EZ-Up and some folding chairs, a box for extra tow straps. I also have a battery and winch mounted inside. It does me good. I tow it with a 2010 1/2 ton Ram with the hemi engine and tow package. It tows it just fine. If I was towing every weekend I would definitely have a diesel though.

Thank you.

80" between fenders, lots of room. I pull it with ease with a 2010 Hemi Ram (tow package).

Thanks. The car is restored to the broadcast sheet. Original FJ6 billboard/wing car with white interior....Now in Germany.

I have a 16 foot utility trailer that I use. It has 1 foot high railing around it making it a little tricky to get a car on by myself, but it can be done. I rarely haul my cars around, but I regularly haul junk around so it made sense. I beefed up the tailgate/ramp on the back with 2x2 steel tubing and added a manual winch to drag cars up a little easier. My Challenger and Cuda fit dine, but my 72 Charger is a little tight even with the front fender and bumper gone.

Alan, Do you need that yellow sticker to tow with an open trailer in Ontario?  I was thinking of getting one like yours for various reasons but if I have to deal with annual safety's, more taxes etc.... then not so much. I ask as I work at a stock car track in the summers and lots of people just hook it up to a 1/2 ton and go. Maybe a racecar is a recreational vehicle and falls under different rules?  :dunno:

Thanks for your input Daytona.

What is the width of your trailer? And I guess the doors opened okay with the one foot railing on the sides of the trailer?

Thanks again,
Tom

It has a 6 foot wide deck on it. With 70 series tires the doors opened fine, but with 60 series I have to put 2x8 or 2x10 to drive on to give a little more altitude otherwise it Dukes of Hazzard time. One trip with the Challenger my tie straps tore and the car ended up slipping a little. The ramp saved the car from coming of the trailer, and the car survived with a scratch.

I've got 2 trailers.
My open trailer is a tilt trailer has a 16' deck and is 6'6" between the mudguards. My challenger has been on it a few times. No pics of the chally on it though.

My enclosed trailer I've had for just over a year now.The box is 28' long by 8' wide.
Rear tailgate is the ramp.
Up front i've got built in sleeping quartes for 4 being a double bed and 2 bunks.
Generally cart my Abody barracuda in it but in 2wks the challenger is going in fot the first time.

Tow car is a 2000 Ram4x4 1500 powered by supercharged 360magnum and A518 trans.

I do have a new towcar coming.
It's a new megacab Ram2500 4x4 with cummins diesel and 6sp manual.
It's on the wharves in LA waiting to be shipped to Austalia.

Burnouts are cool but Traction is the Action

Technically I think you do, but if it's personal use only you can get away without it. Most larger trucks like duallys and stuff are more of a target for local MTO officers. They also go after a lot of landscapers etc...

The yellow sticker has to do with combined weight and I think my little 1500Ram and 16ft trailer are under the weight. :clueless:
