Radiator Core Support Brace
« on: April 25, 2013 - 05:36:05 AM »
I like the look of the square tubular brace that XV offers or the one that Aaron Beck made.
http://beckkustoms.blogspot.com/2011/05/radiator-frame-front-rail-support.html

The punched and dimpled hole one from US Cartools looks out of place to me.

That said, the frame rails protrude forward of the factory core support.  Can a square tube type brace be installed at this location without interferring with any factory components or accessories?

I have shamelessly stolen Mopar Mudder's picture and marked it up to show area in question.

If the frame horns stick out past the front of the core support, then yes, you could put the brace in the front of the core support and achive the same results.

In order to retain the factory appearance and mounting points along with the radiator fitment i made a custom one. Most of the off the shelf ones either move the location and require additional bracketing or hang too low at correct spot to aviod the radiator from hitting. I played with this thing a few times and this is what it looked like towards the end. (two holes need drilled for vertical brace)I was thinking of making them if there was enough interested parties.... Heres some pics of the prototype on the car installed...

The valance does bolt to the inside of the frame horn that sticks out past the radiator support. Plus you would have to mod the brace that bolts to the middle front of the radiator support if added a brace in front of it. If it were me I would remove the original and make an entire new and better on to do in the existing space, so it doesn't effect anything else. I can get some some better pictures of everything bolted together under their if it helps. I looked though my picts and like normal I never have pictrues of what I need.
