edelbrock choke
« on: April 26, 2013 - 08:56:31 PM »
 :canada:

Hi. I have a 71 cuda 440 auto. I recently purchased a edelbrock performer intake. It has no heated choke provision.
My carb is a avs 4738s. This carb has no electric choke or any type of choke.

1. Has anyone figured out on adapting a electric choke for this carb ?
2. Will the original linkages work for the throttle and kick down ?
3. Because the intake is around 2" higher my dual snorkel will not fit, does anyone know what will fit?

Thanks

you will need a drop base A C
I am not familiar with your carb specifically but Eddy may have a choke kit for it .
You need a different throttle cable braket , Mancin has taller ones available or make a link from the cable up to the carb , Eddy has a mopar throttle linkage adapter which will help but you will have to extend the kickdown linkage so it gaoes all the way back at full throttle .

Ok great, thanks.
So I guess what I'm looking for is someone who actual has installed a eddy performer intake on a 440 in a 70 to 74 ebody (ralleyhood)  to give me a little more info based on brand type and modifications or provisions for fuel line and/or electric  choke maybe even final installed clearance.
Thanks

mis read the post , yes there is no choke well for the manual choke element , Eddy should have an electric choke that will fit the carb , the electric chokes work better anyway . Just run a 12v feed wire from the blue wire at the ballast or voltage reg .
