71 manual drum brake master cylinder part number
« on: April 28, 2013 - 12:37:44 PM »
My  71 Challenger has 11" manual drum brakes and it has the wrong master cylinder on it.  It has the unequal reservoir type for a drum/disc setup. So I'm trying to find an OEM correct master cylinder to replace it. Line 5 of  my broadcast sheet  has "31" under the master cylinder box. What would the corresponding casting number be?

If I'm not mistaken, in 71 they want to the spring clip cover retainer setup over the screw down cover.

I checked my GG casting books and my ICCA book but could 't find it.

Thanks
Mark

The table header says "Front Disk Brake Master Cylinders", is there a list for front drum brakes?

Much appreciated Topcat.

Found the part number doing some more googling around.

Chrysler Part number# 3461184
Bendix casting number# 3461189 or 2227541

The article Top Cat posted the disc table from has one for drums too.
It was from a Mopar Action April 2005 article by Brad Schroeder.
The complete article is on Moparts Members in Print Section.

I also confirmed what that table had against a parts interchange book that has some sections available online.
