What is the best material for my sandblaster? It's mostly going to be for small parts brackets ect. Don't know what's the best all around material?

Depends on what your sand blasting.
Different medias for different types of surfaces.

How fast they cut is determined by the hardness, speed, PSI, CFM, etc.

Aluminum Oxide is best for fast cutting.
Glass bead is best used in a cabinet.
Sand is worthwhile but creates Silica dust which is harmful to breathe.

When it comes to small parts, try a plastic media tumbler. They sell those at HF.

glass bead is great stuff but you need a filtration closed cabinet system.
Again, Glass is a sand based material that makes silica dust.

Crystalline silica has been classified as a human lung carcinogen. Additionally, breathing crystalline silica dust can cause silicosis, which in severe cases can be disabling, or even fatal. The respirable silica dust enters the lungs and causes the formation of scar tissue, thus reducing the lungs� ability to take in oxygen. There is no cure for silicosis. Since silicosis affects lung function, it makes one more susceptible to lung infections like tuberculosis. In addition, smoking causes lung damage and adds to the damage caused by breathing silica dust.

Stick small parts in a tumbler with a little bit of Evaporust and go have a beer.

If I were starting another car today, I'd blast very few parts. EvapoRust works great. I also had great success with muriatic acid. It made very short work of the fasteners. I wish I would have tried it before spending hours and hours bead blasting a bunch of small parts. The parts tumbler works good too. After an acid wash I put the fasteners in the tumbler with some degreaser or EvapoRust. They came out slightly polished and ready to be zinc plated.

A nice cabinet and glass bead, although I use evaporust on certain parts the blast cabinet can churn stuff out fast if you know what you are doing.
