Part Replacement question

Hello all (and Happy Winter / Road Salt Finally is Behind 99% of us, all)!

In the uppermost left-hand corner of the attached firewall pic, there is a brushed aluminum rectangular box attached the firewall. 

A closer look will also reveal a straight, dark line "down" from that box that turns out to be a very, very tacky "goo" that is apparently / obviously leaking out of the bottom (to be more accurate, out of the back) of that box.

Questions: What part is that box?; and, Where is a reliable / the best source for obtaining a replacement?

Voltage regulator , Standard make s a replacement for $10 , once the seal is lost they do not last long , I have had them last less than a year often .

I swear Brother, if I don't go to my first ever Chrysler Carlisle for any other reason this year, I want to ride up just to shake your hand and tell you, "Thank You!" in person for all the help you have given me (and others) and sanity you have saved me!

Yep definitely a voltage reg.

Hopefully the one I got will last longer than most, but then again it might be a crap shoot.

I paid less than $15 for my chrome voltage regulator 6 years ago, and it still does the job.

Well I would love to meet up with you but it seems I will not be at Carlisle unfortunatly

Also when you replace it, get a spare and keep it in the glove box.
