The correct fender signals?
« on: April 29, 2013 - 04:12:18 PM »
Can anyone tell me which fender mounted turn signals are correct for a '72 'Cuda?  The ones I have now are held on from the bottom with no screw holes on top, however I see signals being sold for that year model that have screws through the top.  :clueless:  The car has had front end body work done in the past so I am unsure.

Thanks!

They are different from 1970, 1971 and 1972-74.
1972-74 should be chrome only with a screw from the top.
If your car is a early build it could have left over 71 units which are a lot longer and body colour only. :2cents:

Thanks anlauto  :)

Mine is an earlier '72, it has a forged crank which I am told went away April-ish?
Think is, they are chrome which appears to be original (worn) chrome  :dunno:

This is what a 1970 Cuda one looks like, note the "lower lip":

1970 Challenger is different, here's a pic from the parts book:

The factory standardised the fender mount turn signals in 73.  They had the visable screw from the top side.  72 still used the style that mounted underneith.  I had a 72 fender and didn't realise the mounting holes were different until the car was painted.   I had to use a small bolt with a philips head to attach them.

72 Cuda with V21

The 73 Challenger press photo was accually a 72 that was air brushed.  It has the 72 style vinyl top, black rubber filler pieces for the front bumper AND the smaller fender mount turn signals that attach from the under side.

That's what I have, with underside attachment but they are chrome; I'll stick with them but have to have them re-chromed.  Thanks! :)
