Should fit just fine, did a test for with same size/backspacing weld rodlites on mine with 235 in front and 255 in back, fronts fit great and there is lots of room in the back for more tire, I'll def be going 275 next time

P275 on the rear

I recently bought this '70 BH with some "fixings", and I'm wanting to put the classic Cragar SS wheels on it. I was told that using a 15/7 with 4 1/4 backspace a 275/R60 on the rear would rub and to stick with a 255. Is there a reason you can use them and I can't or is the previous owner being overly cautious ? I'm also planning on a 15/6.5 and 235/R60 on the front, but would actually like to go a little narrower if practical.

Well I have a 15x8 on the rear and tried both 255 and 275, I would have to get air with the read to rub. We (Discount Tire and I) both pushed on the rear of the car and couldn't get the wheel well to hit the tire, the tire would rub if I go more than 1/2 down on the tire, don't plan on jumping the car.......don't know about a 275 on a7" rim.

Also have been driving the car and no rubbing hit a few driveways and no porblems....

A 4.5" backspacing on the rear will allow you to run 275/60/15s or I'm in trouble!!!

I was also told that 4.5 would cause issues with the suspension hitting. Is that with a 15/8  ?
NOW I'm really confused.  :eek7:

4.25 vs 4.5 is a very important quarter inch that can make a big difference in tire fit.

Also, keep in mind that if your quarter panels have been replaced, chances are the fender lip is now wider as well. Compared to the originals, reproduction quarters all have wider flanges in the wheel opening and very few body guys think to check this and trim them back to OEM spec.

u should be fine with 275/60-15 in the rear ,thats what im running now,,295's were a little too close with stock spring perches..

a little tip,,i wanted my front tires to be a little taller and narrower than what a 235/60 could provide, anything 60 would be just as wide as the rear tire almost..,closer to the rears in height,,its all in the cross section,,,so,,after checking i bought 245/70's for the front...1/2" shorter than the rears but 2" narrower than the rears.i see alot of 70 series tires on the front of show cars because they look symetrical..looks even from the sides.but gives it that wide/narrow drag look from the front/back..    :2cents:
