One of those anti-theft systems may be some what effective, but older cars don't require multiple complex circuits to be energized in order to start and run. On a car like yours all someone needs is a jumper wire from the battery to the coil to energize the ignition, a screwdriver across the starter solenoid to jump the starter and varooom! the engine will come to life!

I have always liked a fuel cut-off valve. Someone might be able to hotwire your car, but they will only be able to get as far as the fuel in the carb float chambers will take them.

I have a ignition kill in my car. I installed a viper alarm system and added on power door locks and an ignition kill. Once I arm the alarm it kills the power to the starter. So even if you were to have the key it would be useless without disarming the alarm system by remote. Hot wiring is also useless. As far as the door locks go, everything is hidden. There is no switches for them in the car. You wouldn't even know the car had door locks until I hit the unlock button on the remote. Ill tell you what had me ordering my alarm system right away... My buddy had an old lock pick set laying around so we decided to try it on my car out of curiosity. That was enough for me... Its scary how easy it is to break into and start these older cars! Next little piece of security I would like to get is a GPS tracker. That way I can go take care of business myself if someone has the balls to steal it. I don't care what the car is insured for... It's got my time, blood, sweat, tears, and memories in it. I will be taking it back no matter what cause after all it is my property...

Good Point! However you will know where it was last detected. Just make sure to hide the module well and tie it into the harness real clean so no one would think different. You could also throw in a secondary battery source that is only for the gps tracker if you really wanted to get crazy. Criminals typically aren't the smartest breed for the most part.
