1971 Challenger parking light hardware info needed
« on: May 08, 2013 - 08:11:06 AM »
Did some electrical work on my 71 R/T  yesterday.

I started with working turn signals but no front parking or side marker lights.

Pulled everything apart,  replaced all bulbs, fixed a few broken connections cleaned and put everything back together and everything now works perfectly.

I noticed the screws that hold the front parking light assemblies in are incorrect.
They appear to be sheet metal type screws and don't tighten up enough which is critical to get good ground for the lights.

Does anyone know the correct type and size screws that are supposed to be used? I'm thinking they should be a machine screw,.. there should be 2 on the bottom and one on the top.

Thanks.

they go through the sheet metal & thread into the housing , the use a oval head & should be either 8-32 or 8-24 thread , the lower ones are short 1/2" or so the upper one is longer about 1"
