Koni adjustable rear shocks don't fit??
« on: March 19, 2005 - 08:49:50 AM »
Just tried to install a set of koni adjustable shocks on the rear of my 73 'Cuda and found that the bottom mount (stud) was too large in diameter for the shock to fit on.. ( yes I have it the right way up ) ..

Has anyone else found this?

Just double checked, but theres no old sleeve on there. The old shocks never had a sleeve on the bottom when I pulled them off. These were already on the car when I bought it. The mounts look factory ( ie. old! ) ..

It appears that to make the new shocks fit, i'll need to remove the sleeve from the bottom rubber. Can anyone see any major problems with doing this? The rubber on the old shock didn't appear to bad ( it had it's protective sleeve removed ) ...

Also does anyone know if any cars came with a larger ( heavier duty ? ) bottom mounting stud? All shocks seem to have this sleeve on them, seems strange that they don't fit my car when i'm pretty sure the bottom shocky mount is original. I checked the part numbers on the shocks and i've definately got the right ones.

it should work fine witout the inner sleeve , the stock shocks do not use them as you figured out
