Switch the rear end out? You guys are getting a little extreme on me here!!

On the surface it might appear that way and if you have to go search out and purchase all the required parts, it could be a bit of a pain. However, it yields big benefits if wide tires are you objective. Doing this set up on my car allows me to run 305 with plenty of room. I might even be able to push 335 if the backspace is spot on and I don't mind tight clearances.

What size are the RIMs, not the tires.

W/o the width size, backspace/offset doesn't mean much.

I.e. a 15x8 with 5" BS is different than a 15x10 with 5" BS in determine where you'll rub.

Brad, I'm about 2hr 45min from you. That would be under 2 1/2 with the Challenger:-). I don't think I'd be comfortable machining a little thickness of the back face of the rim. That could effect the integrity of the rim. We'll see how it works the way it is for now, then consider other options if need be. It didn`t rub when I had it out Sat. evening.

Something I learned recently.
Aluminium rims are actually built 3mm thicker than their engineered design.
Therefore it IS safe to machine 2-3 mm off if required.
It's a legal mod in Australia and our rules are a whole heap more restrictive than yours.
Brad's on to it
Had 2mm taken off the Centerline Scorpions on my challenger and 3mm taken off the Cenetrline Autodrags on my 72 Dart Swinger to make tight clearances acceptable.

Blown motor just for info I have American Racing VN105D Torq-Thrust D 15x8 with 4.5" backspace from Summit Racing on my 70 Challenger. I use BFG TAs 245/60-15 on the rear with no rubbing issues.

My rims are AR outlaw II and they aren't available with 4 1/2" backspace. Don't know why.
