70 Challenger R/T standard stuff
« on: March 19, 2005 - 05:19:59 PM »
This is a question for all you resto guys. I have a 70 Challenger R/T (383 4 spd). Does anyone know what exactly the R/T option consisted of as STANDARD equipment? I want to know if anything may have been added to my car over the years that may not have been on the car as it came from the factory. Did R/T include rallye dash? Posi? Rallye hood? Console? Front sway bar? Disc brakes? Thanks

Yes, the R/T ooption included the rallye dash, rallye hood, and front sway bar(50% sure on this one). It did not include the posi, console, and disc brakes...those were all options and so was the 4-speed on a 383. Other options that I can think of off the top of my head is the dual exhaust and dual exhaust tips.

Are you saying dual exhaust and tips were NOT a part of the R/T option. They came with the 'Cuda option package.

to my knowledge the Chall & Cuda had tips standard unless it was ordered in some parts of Cali where they had to have turned down tips for noise reduction

They were standard just forgot to mention it, the codes are N41 and N42 if I remember right. I only remember the codes because I found it kind of funny that dual exhaust had a seperate code from dual exhaust tips. I was just trying to point out that with a 383 R/T there were a lot of stuff that wasnt standard compared to a 440.

Would the N41 and N42 still appear on a fender tag as options even though it is an R/T?

Off hand I can think of 4-speed, 26 inch radiator, and a posi....standard was 3-speed, 22 inch radiator and non-posi, although Im not sure if posi was standard on 440s, but I thought it was.

Remember that only Chevrolet had posi aka Positraction.  Chrysler Corporation had Sure-Grip.

sure grip was not standard, only if trak pak was ordered with a 4 gear did you get sure grip.  you could get a 440-6 with auto and 3.23 one wheeler with a 22" rad though.
