"authentic" restoration parts question

We all seen the blue "authentic restoration parts" logo on different items. Are certain items made by one manufacturer only then sold by many (lets say roseville-be&a-ect?) Or are their different manufacture making the same part?  :clueless: Which could lead to a difference in qualty/fit/finish...

All it means is that the manufacture spent the money to get Chrysler to put their stamp on it.  It has nothing to do with quality.  As long as Chrysler gets paid, they don't care if the part is exact or just close.  Most repro parts are not 100%correct...with or without the stamp. The "authentic restoration parts" will have part#'s on them that others will not.

BE&A and PG Classics sell the same parts.  BE&A parts cost more because they have the part numbers on them.(Chrysler gets a cut of the profits). When BE&A's run is done, the numbers are removed from the moulds and PG Classics runs their parts.  This is why BE&A can't run another batch of parts when they sell out of something.  The moulds have been modified for PG.(no part numbers)

Granted, I do understand what your saying. That being said, Its was always my understanding that , lets say be&a made some of their own parts , vs roseville who dosent manufature anything (I would presume??). Therefore some housings or lenses lets say, are coming out of one place or many places. And being sold by many. Example, AMD appears to b the most popular panels vs goodmark / sherman/ brand X. Maybe I'm not presentng the question the right way... and kind of a multi point question to boot!

In the grand scheme of things there are just a small number of manufactures. Most places just resell those parts. Roseville, Dante's, amhightechauto exc. are just reselling other manufactures parts. Legendary doesn't even make everything they sell.

That's why customer service is so important.

all of the parts are reverse engineered over seas, unfortunatley, Like Burdar said, the  " authentic" really doesnt carry any weight when it comes down to fit and finish, it only gives the mfg the right to say it and used certain names so chrysler gets there royalties.

I've bought quite a few parts from Classic Industries. The order was shipped correctly, phone service was good and the parts fit. As for "authentic" I'm not sure.

If any vendors are reading this thread I buy "Made In USA" every chance I get.  I routinely pay a reasonable premium to do so.  If it can't be made here for some reason I buy "Made In China" absolutely last.  I have nothing against the Chinese people, I just think its high time we support our own manufacturers like almost every other country does.  Try selling American made items in China ... good luck!

I agree, if you are driving American muscle then it shouldn't have a made in China stamp .

Working with Canada Border Services here dealing with Origin of goods everyday let me tell you that most items "made in usa, or canada" is the furthest thing from the truth. The way Made in a country works is a huge long process but short and dirty version states that you can take all the parts from other countries even semi assembled goods and as long as there is a change in HS classification it now becomes made in that country. Here is an example we give at work to industry all the time.

You buy orange concentrate from Mexico, you buy glass jars from China, sugar from the dominican replublic. You take all of these goods and mix them together in the USA your marmelade is now considered a product of the USA because the Harmonised System changed headings from Raw sugar/ raw oranges/ glass bottles to marmelade.

In a world of globalization it's very very hard to say a product is made completely in one location/ country. I am not saying it dosen't happen but I see this everyday especially with products that are trying to get "NAFTA" certification. Most are jsut chinese products.

Chysler does this with there packaging also.  even though the parts come cross border, where ever it is boxed is its origin. which we know better.
