Door Window Glides/Up-Stops?
« on: May 12, 2013 - 08:51:13 PM »
Does anyone know if the felt covered rubber "cap" that fits on the bottom of the door's outer window glide/up-stop bracket is being repopped?  It seems nearly all of the rubber body bumpers, etc are available, but I can't seem to find these.  Don't know exactly what these are called, but being felt covered, and given their mounting location inside the door, I assume they are window glides and/or up-stops.  Thanks.

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

I know not what you're asking, but here's an option for the felts.

Weren't my photos of the actual part clear enough, or self explanatory?

The "outer" window up-stops/glides are very different than the inner window glides.  The inners are glides ONLY with a thicker felt.  The outers are actually up-stops/glides, but more up-stops than glides with a felt covered rubber "cap" on the steel bracket.  I will be covering the inners with the soft side of industrial velcro.  What I am looking for is the rubber cap for the "outer" bracket.

Anyone know about the rubber "cap" that goes on the metal bracket for the window up-stop?  Are they available anywhere, or from anyone?  How have you guys dealt with your 40+ year old hardened/cracked rubber caps?  Thanks.

I pulled the rubber caps off so I could remove the rust and paint the brackets.  The caps are hard, dried, brittle and cracking.  If they are not available new, any suggestions or recommendations on how/if the rubber can be softened/rejuvenated?

Resurrecting this old thread.  I've been away ever since getting back to work two years ago.  Finally getting back into finishing the car.  Anybody ever find replacements or anything for the door window up-stop bumpers?  I just started a new search and found these: http://www.steelerubber.com/glass-up-stop-bumper-70-3623-62
They are not identical, and apparently not correct for 1970, but the dimensions are the same as my originals.  Might be able to do mods to make them fit the '70 brackets.  Thanks for the help.
