Cam drive gear

How do I know if I need a bronze or steel cam oil pump drive gear?
1972 Cuda Custom 70 clone  416 stroker 481/531 hp/
2006 Grand Cherokee SRT8 (daily)
1970 Challenger convertible 340 (Dad's)
1967 Dart gt slant six all original 40,000 miles driver but needs restoration (Brother's)
2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee (wife's)

It depends on the camshaft you are running....

Roller = steel/bronze gear

regular Hydraulic = cast steel gear
1970 Cuda Clone 440 4 speed - sublime green

It's a hydraulic roller, so I would want a steel / bronze one then?

if its a billit steel core u will need a bronze sacrificial gear,,,if its a cast roller a std gear will be o.k...its all in the composition of the metal as far as what drive gear u will need...

My comp cam stated that a bronze gear is required but it was made of a mix of metals for extended life.

Or so they say....
