1971 barracuda for 15K is it worth it?
« on: May 21, 2013 - 12:12:20 AM »
Looking at this 71 BH barracuda. No fender tag and no build sheet. Original 318 car. Car has all body work done by very reputable body shop and is now in epoxy primed ready for paint. it is a rolling shell plus seats, ralley gauges, rear seat, aftermarket shaker hood, a good grill and headlight trim, all glass plus a few trim pieces. Is this worth 15K?  :feedback:

Looks ok just depends what you want as in a real cuda or not. Not many cars around this is the one in Reno? I would say it depends on Parts are included also.

I have an excel file with everything I can think of when I went to pick my car up I can email it to you from work tomorrow that would be something that would be nice to have as a sticky somewhere. I  sure I am missing things but the little parts will Nickle and dime you to death and you will be upside down. Looking at your mustang build bodywork isn't an issue for you. There is a parts car on Sacramento Craigslist for 4500$ but it is may be a shady deal he is trying to rebody it. I would add everything up that the car will need and see where that gets you the one I sent you was complete minus motor and you would probably be money ahead with it amd it's a real cuda

I sold a 72 in similar condition for $6k. And it had about 80% of the parts needed to finish it. I'm thinking that's a little overpriced considering it is lacking quite a few parts, and that's not considering drivetrain.
Cuda is gone :(

Thanks, but a 72 isn't even in the same category as a 71 cuda.

My first thought was "NO".....but then I got to thinking it depends entirely on what you're building. If you're building a clone or a modified car and this thing is truly solid and has had professional body work done, then I would say "YES" because you won't be able to buy a rusty car and get it to this point for $15K
However...There are probably more "complete" cars out there for the same $15K.

Or there are original "BS" Cuda projects out there also for $15K which would have more value when finished.

I would agree it depends on what you want to do with it. It looks nice but I would check everything over to make sure nothing is hidden

Thanks, but a 72 isn't even in the same category as a 71 cuda.

I know and I think that's such crap lol. If I remember correctly they made less 72-74's than 71's. But for some reason people think 70's and 71's are more rare and thus worth more, even though they made more of them.

1974 base hardtop coupe: 6,745; 'Cuda hardtop coupe: 4,989

I've had about 18 1972-74 Cudas/Barracudas.....I have a soft spot for any 72 with the v21 hood option, but I would have to say 71 is the best!

Here's another one in the same price range, but it's a REAL 340 1971 Cuda, so a bit better investment and the end of the day.... http://brantford.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-classic-cars-Real-71-340-Cuda-no-clone-W0QQAdIdZ478457844

I'm sort of surprised that one is still for sale Alan. I thought that would be long gone already. I was thinking about that one when it first came up for sale.

Can't say for certain that it's still available, but the ad is up and running. :dunno:
I would consider it too, but it's not an highly optioned car and not a "big seller" when finished. :'(

I wish I could have a shot at the restoration with somebody else paying for it.. :smilielol:
