noise from tranny

i have a 518 that makes a noise that starts at about 30mph, it is speed related, not rpm related. the best way to describe the noise is the clicking sound a tranny makes when you put it in park when car is still moving forward. took it to a tranny shop [ same guy that built it ] and he found fileings in the pan. he figures that since the od unit is from a diesel and the park rod is from a gas valvebody that the park strut is a different length. can anyone confirm this? would this create fileings?

No difference in the park rod between gas or diesel. Only difference is between 42/46/47RH/RE and the 48RE. 48Re being ALOT bigger.

Rod could be bent though and dragging the pawl........................

found the noise. i'm not 100% sure but it was something to do with the od housing is from a diesel and the case is a little different than a gas. another problem were having now is the overdrive selanoid keeps frying. he changed the first one out, it worked for first couple shifts and then quite.
