:1zhelp: Need suggestions for air cleaner solution... :1zhelp:

After installing an Edelbrock 600 carb with 1/2" wood spacer on my 74 Cuda which has a 440 and Weiand 8009 manifold, neither my old 3" air cleaner, nor the free Eddy 3" air cleaner (#1223, 14" diameter, 3 3/4 height) gives me enough clearance to close the hood.
Looks like I'm lacking a good inch or so of clearance Clarence ....

Any ideas of what size/kind of air cleaner I can use? I thought about using the free Eddy air cleaner cover and replacing the it's 3" filter with 2" filter , but not sure if the engine would be air starved or not with the smaller filter....

Any suggestions appreciated!!

Not sure what base you are using but they do have drop base a/c that cover the carb more so that is the first thing I would look at , the second option is the K&N filter top which helps increase the area by allow air flow through the top cover . if the A/C fit before with the old carb & you just added the the new carb & spacer the carbs are the same height so you just have the spacer height difference .

yep, with the old a/c i was tight up against the hood, so i'm now 1/2 over due to the spacer....  (a sawsall would fix my problem but that's a bit drastic  hehe)  :dunno:

Update! Found a Mr. Gasket 14x2 filter at O'Reillys and replaced the 14x3 Edelbrock one...gives enough clearance with about 3/4" to spare!
