I would start with sealing the intake properly & blocking the heat crossover . the problem with T body EFI / wet intakes are fuel dist just like a carb .
I would  use a gasket sealer between the pan & intake why take a chance

ya, to get a good seal, due to some machining on the heads, I had to use a side gasket above
and below the valley pan, on each side.

my bet is you will never get the pan & 4 side gaskets [2 on each side ] in there & get the bolts started

had a friend rebuild engine with a stroker crank 12 years ago. He messed up the heads, so I had Chapman Racing Heads rebuild them.
Put engine together, but still worried about everything else, so had an guy one year later tear down the engine to make sure everything else
was ok. He said all he had to do different, besides put a crank scraper in, was double up the gaskets on each side of the valley pan, for both sides,
due to surfaces not mating correctly. I hope he got the bolts in well enough.  Been working fine for 10 years. Maybe he used longer bolts from ARP?

So I put it all together last night and it seemed to fit well with all 4 gaskets and the valley pan (pan inbetween gaskets).  The bolts threaded in just fine and took the full torque.  I will check them again today when I get home before I fire it up for the first time.  Hope this works.

Thanks for all the input and help!

If you got all 4 gaskets in then you located the problem , , on almost every engine I have tried to install all 4 gaskets it never works , the intake simply will not go down far enough to line up the bolt holes , so if you had room & got the bolts started easily it was probably loose between the heads & could have been pulling oil up into the ports , most engines I build the block is milled to zero deck the piston & the heads are milled so they are truely flat so the height of the intake ports is lower taking away room for the extra gaskets .
