billboards or no billboards?
« on: May 30, 2013 - 02:56:11 AM »
I have been back and forth on if I want to put billboards on my 71 cuda. It has beautiful black show paint on the car, it will have a red interior once it is done. The car is a original billboard car, actually a triple green, AC car with black billboards. I like the look of the billboards on the cudas but the paint is so nice its a shame to cover it? What do you guys think? Are you fans yes or no?  :feedback:

Finish the car don't add billboards then after a few weeks or months you'll know for sure if you want them.

Black billboards. The only 71 cuda I have seen that I like without billboards is Nash Bridges convertible. A friend of mine has a triple black 71 hemi cuda and is looks absolutely amazing with the black billboards.

Since the car originally came with them, that's the way I would lean.  However, you aren't going back to stock so you can do what ever you like.  Personally, I think the billboards are over done.  I've seen them on A and B bodies lately.  I would probably wait awhile and see if you like it without.  They can always be added later.

To be different, you could add the 71 pin striping in red.  I quickly tried to find a pic but didn't come up with anything.  It would be understated and you'd be the only one that would have it.

I was going to suggest red billboards before seeing that pic but I think I change my mind now after seeing that pic.  I like billboards but they stick out to much, looks like leather chaps on a cowboy.  That car looks nice but not for my tastes.

Black billboards will be more subdued, but not sure how they would look with the red interior.  :2cents:  Is your car a hardtop?  It might look good with a hardtop.

I would be all over the billboards , I would not do the billboard in red but doing the flat black gloss black would look killer , just like the black T/A & AARs  :2thumbs: , decals can always be removed

Yeah I agree I will be going with the flat black myself, the red billboards are a little too much in my opinion.

I love the look of flat black billboards on a black car, too.  If I had a 71 I'd definitely add them even if my car didn't come with them which yours did.  Black is the only other color other than original I'd paint my car and like you I'd love to pair it with an all red interior.  If I go that way I'll definitely do some type of flat black stripes, just not sure what year.

I'm a big fan of the bilboards. If it was mine they would for sure go back on. But the call is yours since the car belongs to you. You'r the one that needs to be happy with it.

:iagree: with this guy.  I had the same debate.  I asked all my friends and the guys that I work with.  About 80% of all that I asked said not to do it.  That was all I needed to hear.  I did it not for the masses to enjoy.  I did my billboards for the Mopar guys.
